'The Twelve Days of Christmas'

My lino cuts illustrating the classic Christmas song ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’  printed in the UK onto an unbleached organic cotton range of products

The presents are open, the lunch is eaten and the leftovers are in the fridge for the Boxing day sandwiches. The leftovers are the best bit of Christmas dinner, that and the sprouts - I actually adore sprouts, they are one of my favourite vegetables and definitely not just for Christmas. Like these delightful designs they can be appreciated at any time of year

You could not help but feel Christmassy wearing this apron as you prepare the sprouts or use the oven gloves to get the turkey out of the oven. Even the drying up could be fun as you can remind yourself whether its eight maids a milking or nine ladies dancing with this humorous take on the traditional Christmas song

 Each print comes on a greetings card and is available individually or as a set of 12 (two free), they come with a plain white envelope and protective wrap

The complete range comprises of a tea towel which has been a consistent seasonal favourite, this year I have added an aprona double oven glove and wrapping paper to the collection.

 Perfect for lovers of a traditional Christmas and a bit of a festive singsong

The origins of the song;

 A traditional Christmas song first published in England in 1780 but thought to be of French origin. It is a cumulative song where each verse builds on top of the previous. As the verses accumulate, so do the gifts; by the end of the twelve days the true love would have received 12 partridges, 12 pear trees, 22 doves, 30 French hens, 36 colly birds, 40 gold rings, 42 geese, 42 swans, 40 maids, 40 cows, 36 ladies, 30 lords, 22 pipers and 12 drummers! I have used the original ‘colly’ birds which is a traditional name for black birds rather than the often-sung modern version of ‘calling’ birds
