This design is different from all my others as it comes from a piece of glass which I engraved. I had been working with architectural glass designers David Peace and Sally Scott for St Andrew's Church, Old Headington, Oxford for which I produced a small blue fish panel.
Inspired by this I created free hanging pieces to act as suncatchers. This one was only 24 x 16 cm, I sold it at an Art fair in 1994 and I also made postcards of it. Many years later, a friend went to an bed and breakfast in the South of England where she saw this postcard framed on the wall of her room. The owner of the BnB had bought the card from me at the Art fair and kept it almost 20 years!
It made me think that I should do more with it and that was when I had the idea of creating my first tea towel.
